Rosalines

21 November 2011

Remember in Romeo and Juliet when Romeo leaves Rosaline high and dry, dropping everything he’s ever believed in because he is struck by Juliet? Doesn’t anyone ever wonder how much it much have sucked to be Rosaline?

I am not such a heartless Romeo. And this ain’t Shakespeare. In real life, people stay with their Rosalines and watch with sorrow as their Juliet walks by.

If they don’t just watch, their Rosaline’s normally get so hurt they’ll never be able to stop the bleeding.

You can’t have both, though.

But really, can anything that results from the heart or soul acting alone ever be truly justified?
